Creating with Country Plastics.

My Story.

................................................

My name is Carole Voss and I have been sewing since I was a young elementary age girl and able to join 4-H. I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Craft Design. In the 1990's I fell in love with quilting when I walked into my hometown quilt store looking for some fabric to make a design on a sweatshirt. A friend of mine just so happened to be in the quilting class that day and told me I ought to give quilting a try because it is so much fun. I did and I’ve been hooked ever since!

Why I started

Creating with

Country Plastics.

My husband and I own and operate Country Plastics in Ames, Iowa. I have a lot of quilters stop by to get templates or modify their plastic table to fit their new sewing machine. It dawned on me I have access to the equipment and plastic to design some items for quilting to make my life easier. I have been working on a few designs this past year and have used them in my country quilting room. I especially like the sewing machine lift when I am piecing a lot of fabric. The biggest benefit for me is that I sit straighter and don't have to bend my neck down so far to see what I'm doing. It makes sewing more comfortable and much more enjoyable. Since then I have realized the products I have been making could be used for a wide range of things, so I started up "Creating with Country Plastics'' in hope that more people could enjoy our products.
